Sheets MCP ("the app") is a tool that runs on your own computer and connects the Claude AI assistant to Google Sheets. This policy explains what Google user data the app accesses and how it is handled.

Data the app accesses

With your permission, the app requests these Google OAuth scopes:

• spreadsheets: to read and edit the contents, formatting and structure of Google Sheets you ask Claude to work on.
• openid and email: to learn which Google account you signed in with, so the app can keep several of your accounts apart. Your email address is stored only on your computer.

How the data is used

Google user data is used only to carry out actions you request through Claude, such as reading a range, writing values or adding a chart. It is not used for advertising, sold, or used to train AI models by the app.

Where the data goes

• Your device: Your OAuth tokens are stored only on your computer (in ~/.sheets-mcp, readable only by your user account). A list of the spreadsheets you have used with the app (their names, links and which of your accounts opened them) is stored on your computer in ~/.sheets-mcp/recent.json, so you can ask for a sheet by name. An in-memory undo history of recent edits is kept while the app is running and is discarded when it stops.
• Google: The app sends requests directly from your computer to Google's APIs.
• Anthropic (Claude): Spreadsheet data the app retrieves is returned to the Claude application you are using, as part of your conversation. That data is handled under Anthropic's Privacy Policy and your Claude account settings.
• Us: The app's developers operate no servers that receive, store or log your Google data, tokens or spreadsheet contents.

The app does not share Google user data with any other third parties. It cannot access your other Google Drive files, Gmail or any other Google data.

Google API Services User Data Policy

Sheets MCP's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

This website

The sheetsmcp.io website uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies to measure visits, such as which pages are viewed and how visitors arrived. Visitors in the EU, EEA and UK are asked first, and no analytics cookie is set unless they allow it; you can change your choice at any time. This covers the website only: the app itself sends no analytics, and no Google user data or spreadsheet content from the app is ever shared with Google Analytics. Revoking access and deleting data

You can revoke the app's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. To delete everything the app stores locally (your sign-ins and the list of spreadsheets you've used), delete the ~/.sheets-mcp folder on your computer; to clear only the list of spreadsheets, delete ~/.sheets-mcp/recent.json. Because we store none of your data, there is nothing else to delete.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
