Privacy Policy

Sheets MCP ("the app") is a tool that runs on your own computer and connects the Claude AI assistant to Google Sheets. This policy explains what Google user data the app accesses and how it is handled.

Data the app accesses

With your permission, the app requests these Google OAuth scopes:

• spreadsheets: to read and edit the contents, formatting and structure of Google Sheets you ask Claude to work on.
• drive.metadata.readonly: to list spreadsheet file names, IDs and modification dates so Claude can find the spreadsheet you mean. The app does not read the contents of other Drive files.

How the data is used

Google user data is used only to carry out actions you request through Claude, such as reading a range, writing values or adding a chart. It is not used for advertising, sold, or used to train AI models by the app.

Where the data goes

• Your device: Your OAuth tokens are stored only on your computer (in ~/.sheets-mcp, readable only by your user account). An in-memory undo history of recent edits is kept while the app is running and is discarded when it stops.
• Google: The app sends requests directly from your computer to Google's APIs.
• Anthropic (Claude): Spreadsheet data the app retrieves is returned to the Claude application you are using, as part of your conversation. That data is handled under Anthropic's Privacy Policy and your Claude account settings.
• Us: The app's developers operate no servers that receive, store or log your Google data, tokens or spreadsheet contents.

The app does not share Google user data with any other third parties.

Google API Services User Data Policy

Sheets MCP's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Revoking access and deleting data

You can revoke the app's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. To delete locally stored credentials, delete the ~/.sheets-mcp/token.json file on your computer. Because we store none of your data, there is nothing else to delete.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
