Terms of Service

Last updated: September 24, 2026

These terms govern your use of Sheets MCP, including the Claude Desktop extension, the @sheetsmcp/server package and the sheetsmcp.io website (together, "Sheets MCP"). Sheets MCP is provided by Collective Theory ("we", "us"). By downloading, installing or using Sheets MCP, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use it.

1. What Sheets MCP is

Sheets MCP is free software that runs on your own computer and lets the Claude AI assistant read and edit Google Sheets on your behalf. It is an independent product. It is not made, endorsed or supported by Google or Anthropic.

2. Your accounts

To use Sheets MCP you need your own Claude account and Google account. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms, including the Anthropic terms and the Google Terms of Service. Only connect Google accounts you're allowed to use this way. For work accounts, that means following your organization's policies.

3. Changes made by AI

Sheets MCP carries out the changes Claude decides to make based on your requests. AI can misunderstand requests and make mistakes, including writing incorrect values or formulas, changing the wrong cells, or removing data. You're responsible for reviewing changes and for keeping backups of important spreadsheets. The built-in undo covers only recent value and formula changes and only while the app is running. Google Sheets' version history (File → Version history) is the most complete way to restore earlier versions.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Sheets MCP to access data you aren't authorized to access, to break any law or the terms of Google or Anthropic, or to interfere with or overload Google's services.

5. License

The Sheets MCP software is open source under the MIT License, which governs your rights to use, copy and modify it. The Sheets MCP name, logo and website content belong to Collective Theory.

6. Privacy

How Sheets MCP handles Google user data is described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Price and changes to the service

Sheets MCP is currently free. We may change, suspend or stop offering Sheets MCP, or any part of it, at any time, and we have no obligation to provide updates or support.

8. No warranty

SHEETS MCP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON'T WARRANT THAT SHEETS MCP WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT CHANGES MADE THROUGH IT WILL BE CORRECT.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COLLECTIVE THEORY WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS OR BUSINESS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF SHEETS MCP, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD SUCH DAMAGES WERE POSSIBLE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO SHEETS MCP WILL NOT EXCEED FIFTY US DOLLARS (US $50).

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Collective Theory against claims arising from your misuse of Sheets MCP or your breach of these terms.

11. Stopping use

You can stop using Sheets MCP at any time by uninstalling it and removing its access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. We may end your right to use Sheets MCP if you break these terms.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we do, we'll post the new version on this page with a new "last updated" date. Continuing to use Sheets MCP after that means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute relating to these terms or Sheets MCP will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
